Rare ceremonial paddle, the leaf shaped blade and handle meticulously carved all over with traditional designs and the pommel with heads of native girls.
These wonderful examples of applied art are carved using teeth of the Mako shark and used in dance ceremonies and have been traced in European collections as early as the 1820s. This example c.1860s.
