Pair of armchairs designed by Gustav Siegel, stained bent beech with leather seats. The frame with the original ‘Thonet’. Vienna c1900.

Dimensions: 79.5 H x seat 48w x 52d, seat height 48cm.

This model with legs in brass sleeves (ends) was exhibited at the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris in the space of J. & J. Kohn, where he was awarded the Grand Prix.
The successful design was Gebr. Thonet and other Austro-Hungarian bend wood furniture producers. It was also an inspiration for Otto Wagner for his armchair of dispatch offices of the newspaper 'Die Zeit' and the Vienna postal savings bank.
