A very rare tilt top games table, the top inlaid with a variety of indigenous New Zealand timbers in a chequerboard pattern with a decorative border. The base is a section of fossilised tree fern, again an indigenous timber. This appears to be a unique table, made for an ‘antiquarian’ taste collector in around 1860, it is an elegant and bold piece of furniture.
