Slung saddle leather seat on a solid oak frame with shaped armrests and splayed legs joined by stretchers. French 1950s Attributed to Clara Porset. The chair's sculptural form and slung leather seat recall the work of Cuban-born designer Clara Porset (1895–1981), whose modernist idiom merged vernacular craft with functionalist design. Educated in New York, Paris, and at Black Mountain College under Josef and Anni Albers, Porset spent much of her career in Mexico, where she became a pioneer of mid-century furniture design. The warm patina of the oak and the supple, naturally aged leather emphasise its tactile character and authenticity.
