Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, Pinwheel Table, Model 523
Large modular occasional table composed of six crescent-shaped teak segments arranged to form a complete circular surface. Each segment is raised on slender tubular brass supports, creating a light, architectural base that contrasts with the warmth and visual weight of the teak tops. When assembled, the table forms a dynamic pinwheel composition, with the grain direction of each segment enhancing the sense of rotation and movement. The design reflects Hvidt and Mølgaard-Nielsen’s mature approach to modularity and precision engineering in the mid-1960s. Each segment with makers label to the underside and stamped FF Model 523, D Patent 82 329.
Designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for France & Son. Denmark, designed 1965.
