Painted metal table lamp with cylindrical body and acetate diffuser, incorporating a red enamel shade assembly allowing controlled modulation of light. The construction demonstrates Sarfatti’s engineering-led approach to lighting design, with balanced proportions and a functional mechanism characteristic of Arteluce production in the mid-20th century. This appears to be a variant of the model 570 and may well be a prototype.

Designed by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce. Italy, circa mid-1950s.

Size
Height: 29 cm
Diameter: 12 cm

DetailsUnmarked example consistent with authentic Arteluce construction. Materials and manufacturing methods reflect period Sarfatti production, including precision-formed metalwork and opaline acetate diffuser. Surface wear consistent with age.

NotesGino Sarfatti (1912–1985) founded Arteluce in Milan in 1939 and produced over 600 lighting designs through the 1970s. His work is characterised by technical ingenuity, modulation of light, and clear structural logic. Many designs were documented internally rather than publicly named, and unnumbered examples are regularly encountered and attributed on the basis of form, construction, and materials.
