Ethiopian Room Divider
The rectangular wooden panel carved in deep relief with bold linear incisions, the colour of the timber is particularly rich and attractive. Gurage People, early 20th Century
Dimensions: Height: 195cm / Width: 47cm
Panels of this type, often associated with the Gurage of southern Ethiopia, were used as architectural partitions partially buried in hard packed earth floors separating areas in clay huts between livestock and the human inhabitants.
