An elegant early 19th-century chest of two drawers. The tapering legs, rectilinear carcass, and shield shaped bone escutcheons typify the Northern European idea of French Empire furniture and its rigorous simplicity. The original ebonised finish and contrasting escutcheons lends the piece a contemporary graphic quality while preserving its crisp period proportions.

Circa 1805–1815 Probably Danish.
