A Rare Albumen silver print of a superb tree in Windsor Great Park with a group of men in the foreground. Inscribed on the mount : "OLD POLLARD BEECH AT ASCOT GATE. CIRCUMFERENCE 30 FEET. PROBABLE AGE 800 YEARS. Knotty, knarry, barreintrees old. CHAUCER'S 'Canterbury Tales'.” By James Sinclair, 14th earl of Caithness (British, 1821-1881) And William Bambridge (British, 1819-1879) 

Image size 28.3 × 23.3 cm in a custom oak frame by Darbyshire. From the rare early photo book The History of Windsor Great Park and Windsor Forest, Photographs by The Early of Caithness & Mr. Bembridge [sic], of Windsor. The same print is in the permanent collection of The Getty Museum, Los Angeles.
